I have been doing a project at my college during the foundation art course exploring human identity and interaction. I have been looking at the artists Edward Hopper, Mary Cassatt and Stella Vine to see how they capture relationships through portraiture. My submission is a collection of small scale paintings of photographs taken by me of different people interacting with each other; whether that is talking, holding hands, walking or dancing. I like the way they look all together, demonstrating the different types of bonds everybody experiences. My paintings are acrylic and canvas and no bigger than 9cm x 7cm. I enjoy working on a small scale as I can create expressionistic marks and lots of layers of colour that appear interesting to me.
