In this self-portrait, I wanted to present a woman in a suit surrounded by cats reinventing the time-old ideal of the ‘Crazy Cat Lady’. I aimed to pay tribute to the history of oppressed women, referencing the witch trials and societal pressures with the objects on the shelves. As inspiration for this painting, I looked at David Hockney’s work as I admire the way he echoes each colour through the compositions which I aimed to do in this piece.
