Ninety-Nine

Ninety-Nine pays tribute to my late great-grandmother—the stalwart matriarch of our family, who fearlessly navigated life despite being completely blind. Using intersecting lines and vibrant colours reminiscent of Edward Hopper, this unassuming scene has a remarkable strength—befitting of its ninety-nine-year-old subject. Like Hopper's lone and vulnerable figures, she sits in solitude, detached from her surroundings, perceiving only the sun's embrace upon her legs. For those without sight, warmth offers welcome solace amidst the darkness.
