This is a painting of me and my friend, Sarah. I wanted to try to paint something modern but in the traditional styles I'm interested in - impressionist, romantic and neoclassical portraits, with their dark backgrounds and blurred edges. I was particularly inspired by the palette of John Singer Sargent.
