Popsie's Scrap Metal Yard

Tate, Age 16

The subject of the work was inspired by my grandad, who I call Popsie, who is a scrap metal man. The car bonnet belonged to my older sister’s car which she wrote off in a car crash. Inspired by Cornelia Parker, I flattened the bonnet by driving a mini digger over it in the scrap yard. The history of the car bonnet and the portrait of Popsie in the scrap yard makes the piece very personal to me.
