This canvas depicts a line of prisoners in striped concentration camp uniforms. They are rendered even more powerless and faceless by my application of hand stitched blocks of colour over their heads. This mixed media painting was inspired by the work of Maurizio Anzeri. I have been exploring people within society who are disadvantaged or marginalised. This piece reflects on an historic period of oppression where human life was devalued, and personalities were removed from individuals.
