I was inspired to do this piece as an experiment with how neon light interacts with skin tones. As the colour palette was quite ambitious compared to what I usually paint with, I was motivated to paint on a larger scale as I thought it would coincide with the vivid colours, which I think has paid off. Having been painting with oils for two years I think that this piece is a homage to my artistic journey so far and represents the versatility of the paint with trying to capture the neon light or "Neo lux", something fairly untraditional given the history of the medium.
