This painting explores the relationships in a family by portraying my parents as figures in a stained-glass window behind my ‘real’ brother, sitting on the floor in front. Stained glass as a medium suggests how parental figures might be idolized, and the mother’s hand extending out of the glass indicates the grip she still has on her son. My parents are wearing their wedding clothes in this image.
