At the beginning of the first Covid lockdown I painted a still life that included my lonely reflection in a metal jug. I submitted this piece into the 2020 RA Young Artists Summer Show and was fortunate enough for it to be shortlisted and included on the website. Last summer I attended a workshop with the artist Emily Powell and produced a much freer and more abstract piece that I think reflects my development as an artist and also the freedom I felt that day, finally in the company of others and making art after so much time in isolation. Creating this abstracted still life filled me with hope and joy.
