Pulling from the iconic snake and the apple parable, Eve explores a protagonist empowered by her decision to eat the apple. Whilst historically the story has been used to diminish her power, the power of all women, this painting seeks to uncover an alternate reality in which her self-possession drove her to conceive the ultimate act of heresy, rather than the spurned Lucifer. The piece aims to shed light on the intersection between femininity and western religion, two topics which historically have been at odds.
