This painting was made during lockdown number 330122235 when I was so bored of the same old routine, the same four walls, the online school sessions, the same walk every day with my mum. As a family we've been enjoying growing veg and baking bread and I've started cooking quite a bit. It's just nice to slow down and enjoy doing really simple things. Watching the eggs sizzling in the pan I felt content and at the same time grateful and angry at the boring nature of life these days. It's a confusing feeling but there's something reassuring and unsettling about everyday things at the moment. A year ago I wouldn't have understood the great significance in my life of simple fried eggs in a pan.
