Deep Down

This artwork depicts my siblings laughing on a sunny afternoon. I was inspired by their 'joie de vivre' as well as the vivacity of colour and light at sundown. I explored the use of texture and combined different artistic techniques to represent the fractions of time in which memories are impressed upon our hearts. My painting is intended to make others smile, even in the midst of a difficult season: I believe this is part of it's power. I named it 'Deep Down' because joy bubbles up from deep within us, overflowing into the world around us.
