Gloria, Year 13

  • Painting
  • Oil paint on watercolour paper
  • A2 portrait

This is a self-portrait in a style that was inspired by Tamara De Lempicka and her exploration of feminine identity. This piece is in relation to the most identifiable aspect of myself: my hair. I found that my appearance may prevent people from approaching me which inadvertently prevents me showing others my true personality. Therefore, my hair appeases me with a lollipop in order to seem unaffected and maintain the façade of happiness.
