Into The Light

My painting has been mainly influenced by contemporary artists Francois Bard and Christian Hook. I incorporated Francois Bard’s dark and chiaroscuro-like aesthetic, as well as the simplicity in his backgrounds, which seems to compliment and emphasise the foregrounds. I thought this technique would make the figure stand out. I looked at the way in which Christian Hook fused texture into his work and his use of vivid colours. I used an electric yellow in the background to make the piece more intriguing.
