Saving Coral Through Clay

Amber, Age 19

  • Sculpture
  • Glazed clay and sea glass
  • 450(w) 150(h) 300(d) mm

My piece is inspired by Earthshot Prize winner, Coral Vita, who help to protect marine ecosystems threatened by global warming. The hint of colour across the surface demonstrates the implementation of new coral species into a seabed, showing the restoration of the coral. I was also inspired by artist Courtney Mattison to start exploring ceramics. I used a variety of tools, my favourite being a toothbrush!
