Periphery is about the distance we feel between our present and former selves. This painting was initiated by an old photograph I found of myself as a child standing by my mother yet on the edge, alone, looking out. Years later, to look back in and find the photograph, I felt a distance that one may often feel accompanying memory and retrospect.
