On a crowded underground, the central character of the piece is staring directly at the viewer. Their expression could be of acceptance and tolerance of the close proximity of the other characters that represent a variety of subcultures. Between the prison-like bars, for this momentary snapshot in time, regardless of how they feel about each other, they are trapped together as they consciously maintain and protect the personal space around themselves and others.
