This is an oil painting from a photograph that I took in my grandma's inpatient ward, when I visited her in hospital in May 2020. The withered flowers are a representation of my feelings during the pandemic, the explosion of COVID-19 and my experience of quarantine in a hotel room for 14 days alone. As well as representing my own mental health during this period of isolation, it also signifies my grandma's deteriorating physical condition.
