Me Running from Chess

Eleanor, Age 17

  • Drawing
  • Ink (dip pen and wash)
  • A4 landscape

This piece is an ink illustration depicting myself and a smaller version of myself running from a row of characters inspired by chess pieces. The Queen, in the centre of the piece, looms overhead while the pawns crowd her feet and the other pieces surround her. The drawing was inspired by feelings of being overwhelmed and feeling not in control of your mind. The chess piece characters were included because I had a chess playing stage and was interested by the recognisable silhouettes of the pieces.
