During lockdown 2020, I started a project drawing inspirational people. Whilst drawing the person my mum told us all about them. This is a drawing of Maya Angelou. Maya was a poet, writer and civil-rights activist. She wrote about her personal life, her experiences and struggles of being a Black woman in America. Maya has written so many famous quotes and her books are read in schools. Maya is inspiring to me because through words she expressed what so many people were feeling.
