This piece was heavily influenced by the lockdowns that we have had to endure over the past year. It was a huge creative outlet for me at a time when my mental health was hanging by a thread. There are hidden emblems of nature (the clouds or the birds) which for me symbolise the daily walk that just about kept me sane. There are a few shapes that look like lampshades, and these are a symbol of our homes. A place that is supposed to be our safe haven but has suddenly become a prison. I wanted to turn the mundanity of lockdown life into something beautiful, and that’s what I did with this piece.
