I produced this series of photographs for my GCSE coursework in February 2020. I was inspired by the work of Saul Steinberg and his use of masks. I took these photographs in early February when talk about Covid-19 was rare. My original interest was the way the masks could convey the inner thoughts of the person. The idea that we have a public and personal persona and an inner dialogue that no one else is privy to. Obviously looking back at the masks now they take on a whole different meaning. Little did I know I wouldn't be sitting my GCSE's and mask-wearing would become compulsory.
