Disillusioned by the perpetual projections of perfection on social media, I turned towards the mundane and unattractive. I took an unstructured, uninteresting photo and elevated it by painting it on a large-scale canvas, emboldening it by a bright orange ground. It is an exploration of the neglected mundane in the digital age; I am looking for the beauty in the unrefined self. Unlike a projected persona on social media, it is a glimpse into real life: the real deal.
